My Skin Care Regimen For Acne Prone Skin Types
/I have dealt with acne pretty much my entire life and finding ways to combat it has never been easy until now. One of the major changes that I made was in my mindset of thinking that a product will work over night. In fact, it takes about 3 months of constant usage of a product to notice the results. I am currently working on a detailed article following my acne journey , but until then I wanted to share what I have learned thus far about my skin and some of the products that I use.
I am a major product junkie, but thanks to my dermatologist and esthetician, I've learned that your skin needs very little to be its best self. Sometimes playing doctor and having too many products can overwhelm your skin and cause more damage than good. Simple is better!! Repeat after me, Simple is better!!!!The less products that you put on your face, the better your face can breathe. Also, it is extremely important to understand that its not only the products on your face that you should be worrying about, but also what you put in your body and your mental health. I know after a certain point, my cystic acne was due to stress hormones. I am also trying to get into the "natural" side of skin care through using less harsh chemicals on my face. In fact, I am currently testing out some products out form this perfect little boutique line that I discovered. I can't wait to tell you about it; but first things first--getting acne under control!
I hope this list gives you some hope for through your acne journey! These are some of my favorite products for my particular acne prone skin.
This Cleanser is extremely gentle and is perfect for incorporating into regimens that include a lot of harsh chemicals or exfoliant products . It is very light and does not foam up, but you can tell that it is cleaning your face. I have used this for a year now and it has been extremely helpful in cleansing my face.
Simple is MY BRAND for Micellar. I can't believe that I lived without this product for so long. I did not know that I was sleeping with all the leftover residue from my makeup. Micellar Water does an EXCELLENT job of cleansing my face. I use this as a third defense after my makeup wipes, cleanser and finally this micellar water. I have seen more of a difference in my face while using this product than I have with a lot of others.
Micellar Water is pretty powerful stuff, composed of microscopic oil molecules called micelles which suspended in "soft water" attaches itself to dirt and makeup that your skin accumulate during the day.
This is my go- to moisturizer. Even my dermatologist agrees with my pick becuase it is one of the best. I love that it is light weight and does have hyaluronic acid which does help to retain moisture. I have seen a significant improvement in my skin texture using this. It does not make me feel oily or clog my pores. It is perfect and seeps into the skin just like water. Perfect for layering moisturizers or primers. I am able to place this under my SPF and my primer.
After talking with my dermatologist and understanding the true importance of sun damage on the skin, I realized that it was definitely time to start protecting my face more than I usually think about. She recommended the La Roche Posay brand and I now use it daily in my skincare routine. It has a super thin & lightweight texture that really sets it apart from most sunscreens. I don't break out from this formula and the actual best part is that it does not leave an intense gray cast on my face which is one of the reasons that I never wore sunscreen. This spf blends into the skin beautifully and works well with other products. it is the most expensive product in my routine, but I actually think it is worth it.
And that concludes the list!!
I hope you found some products and/or tips useful to add to your regimen! Like I said, I have been struggling with acne for pretty much my whole life; and only recently did I start to get serious about getting itunder control. There are a lot of factors that play into these hormonal reactant pollutants popping up on your face and mine definitely had to do with hormones reactive during stress. I am telling you, stress does a body harm! Regardless, when I stuck to a regimen for skincare, I noticed some huge improvement. If you struggle with acne too, I would recommend these products because they did work for me. Now, I do understand, though, that what may work one may not work for the other. However, I do know that sticking with a product for about three months is when you start seeing the effects. So, don't give up & definitely visit your dermatologist for more in depth analysis on your particular skin type.
So let me know if you try these products and if they help!!
